The Educational Technology team at DoTS is sponsoring a Student Digital Media Showcase. We want to provide this opportunity for teachers to share the exemplary work of their students and to further highlight some of the fine work going on in district classrooms.
The showcase is open to all levels, Elementary, Middle, and High, with a separate category for specialized programs at DSA, CEC, and the computer magnet programs.
Here are the categories for you to submit your students’ work:
1. Digital Still Art: Photography, Enhanced Photography, Original Work (Kid Pix, Illustrator, other)
· FORMAT - .jpg or .gif with a file size of 2 MB or smaller for each submission
2. Digital Video Short (3 min or less)
· Digital Storytelling, Claymation, Movie, News broadcast, Commercial / PSA, Animation, Documentary / Historical
· FORMAT - .mov or .wmv
3. Audio;· Original Composition Music (Garageband or other), Podcast;FORMAT - .mp3 or .wav or .aiff
4. Classroom Instructional Presentation
Slide Shows, Podcasts, Timeliner, other
5. Misc.;
· Web design, other
The deadline for submissions is April 27th. Submissions will be posted on a website as they are received. All work will be posted by May 4th. Judging will be concluded by May 14th, with awards given to students by May 18th.
All submissions must adhere to US Copyright laws. For fair use information, please see the NCCC Association of Distance Learning Educators guidelines at http://www.nccei.org/blackboard/copyright.html.
All submissions must be in a digital format. Video and audio submissions cannot be more than 3 minutes in length.
Ed Tech can assist those teachers who may not know how to save their product to the prescribed media formats.
Work must be submitted to Educational Technology via Email, on CD, or DVD. Use the entry form attached to this email. Please send all submission to Educational Technology at the Department of Technology Services (DoTS), attention Dale Downing. You can send your entries via email (to: Downing, Dale), school mail, or you can drop off your submission at DoTS – 780 Grant Street.
